Manipulations is defined by the setup of promised gain or the promise to avoid loss and by the tactics used and the conditional outcomes that are perceived. Therefore, any relationship that has the potential to have an impact on your identity, status, self-worth, and sense of personal adequacy has the highest manipulative potential because you have the most to gain or the most to lose from the outcome.
Manipulation frequently occurs in:
Family relationships, including marriage and children and other relationship.
Sexual/romantic relationships (including ex - spouses)
Work relationships, either peer or nonpeer
Friendships
Professional relationship (e.g. doctor/patient etc)
Academic relationship (e.g tutor/student etc)
I will be sharing more on this interesting rather upsetting topic here and on our Empowerment platform. You may subscribe for the next part.
