This write up relates to my very own experience and that of many others in this country and around the world; as result I am sharing very minimal from verse work that we have been engaged with, although I unable share what our next step will be regarding this with you yet!
It is evident that where there is substantial evidence of wrongdoing, the police officers are almost never prosecute, let alone convicted. Yet prosecutors often claim they are simply hamstrung by the law, which does confer a great of protection on the police. But there are many actions prosecutors can take to create lasting systemic police accountability - if they want to maintain any credibility with the people they are suppose to serve.
Prosecutor have to:
1) Institutionally separate themselves away from the police to judge them objectively!
2) Refuse police union donation prior and during their election!
3) Implement mandatory reporting of police to ethic investigation especially when deem necessary!
4) Put a hard stop on prosecutors association lobbying towards reform!
5) Stop ignoring or actively covering up misconduct or corner cutting in every day cases, including allowing officers to lie on the stand at the court hearing.
6) Standalone legal proceeding for victim of police misconduct that don't depend on the prosecutor to represent those victims!
7) Professional penalties for prosecutors who cover for police to the detriment of the victims and community!
8) Appoint independent prosecutors in cases of police violence!
9) Push both police and prosecutors to adapt a vision of justice broader and deeper than criminal persecution!
Despite several request; apparently I am not permitted to give out more these at this stage of our verse work; however, as soon as i can again you will see related publications.
